Sindh, one of the four provinces of Pakistan, lies in its south eastern part. Till 1947, it was part of the undivided India. The name Sindh is derived from the Sanskrit word Sindhu, which is river Indus, one of the longest rivers of Asia flowing through India and Pakistan. Indus is the Europeanised name of Sindhu.
