The renowned feminist author, journalist, environmentalist and numerologist, Kusum Choppra, invited me to her place to have a look-see at the book, Sindhi Tapestry- An Anthology, edited and curated by Saaz Aggrawal. She had informed me of its imminent arrival in December 2020, and I was keen to see the book, as well as, meet her. A journalist by profession, Kusum Choppra loves to explore the feminine views through her creative writing. Her books, Silver Dreams, Nirbhaya & Others Who Dared, Mastani, Beyond Diamond Rings, Altitudinus and Rishte, are path breaking in their themes from elderly romance to lives of strong women from various backgrounds.
The book, Sindhi Tapestry, has a collection of articles or poems by 50 Sindhis across the world on their Sindhi identity and is an attempt to help the Sindhis understand their roots. Prominent Sindhis such as Murli Melwani (writer), Driven Hazari (social media influencer), Sapna Bhavnani (Indian hairstylist and maker of the documentary, Sindhustan), Saaz Aggrawal ( writer) and our very own, Kusum Choppra, among many others, have contributed their views to the collection. With so much Sindhi muscle lending its power, I am sure the book will be an enriching read. I will put up the review of the same once I receive my copy from the Amazon.
